Greeting Bloggers,
While driving down 64E headed home from Short Pump the other night, there was a sign flashing on the left-hand side of the road that read "Road Work Ahead, Use Caution". I continued to drive straight ahead, at the same rate of speed. A few miles up, there was another sign, near the Staples Mills exit that read "Detour Ahead, Be Aware". I progressed towards the detour and took my normal exit. The sign was there to warn oncoming traffic, road work was being performed by city workers, trying to make the pavement smoother.
Good thing I didn't ignore these signs, I'm sure it would have been some very unhappy workers, if I had altered the road they laid and designed for me. That got me to thinking, how many signs do we come upon, read and ignore. God has a plan for us, a distinct road map that is individualized for each of us. Some of his signs are settle, some may appear with a flashing neon light with your name on it. LOL. The question is, do we allow our own personal agenda get in the way of God's plan? Do we witness the signs He's laid before us, and choose to ignore them, because we want, what WE want now? If I had ignored the signs that the city workers had placed in my travels, anything could have happened. I would have interfered with the designed they created for me to get home. I say that to say, we must "Use Caution", when the things WE plan on, don't work out just right. I know we're human, and we sometimes push forward, because "this" was our plan. But whose plan is more important? Our own or God's?
You know, we ask for a lot. Sometimes big, sometimes small, but it always seem to be something we "think" we need in order to make us happy. I personally want to be on TV being a comedic actor or doing my stand-up comedy, and I believe that God has opened that door for me. 2010 was a year I prayed that my comedy career would take off. So, I read the signs and changed my style to "clean" comedy, which wasn't easy. But because I took heed to the signs laid before me, the Lord has blessed me! Don't be afraid to ask the Lord for something, but be prepared for the work it will take to achieve and hold on to the blessing you've asked for. Well, The Lord hears our cries and will answer by and by! We just have to learn patience and allow God to do his Will. Sit back and let God pave your road. You've asked for something special, and because of your faith, He will give it to you. He wants to make sure that each of his children have smiles on their faces. But we HAVE to let God take control of the wheel. Just remember...there's Road Work Ahead, Use Caution.
